Thanks for visiting my website.  I am delighted that you are here.  A word about me, then.  I have recently moved to Pittsburgh. Before Pittsburgh, I lived for many years in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area, where I worked as a pianist, composer, piano and composition teacher, youth choir director, vocal coach, church musician and entertainer.  Regarding my compositions--I have written choral music, both sacred and secular (including two large-scale oratorios for church performance, (the first of which, Healing of the Blind Man, the Washington Post called “Inspiring”), orchestral and chamber music.   Many of my works have been written on commission, and my music has been performed at such venues as the Kennedy Center and the Washington National Cathedral, and at other venues throughout the United States.

I hold a degree in Music Composition from the Catholic University of America, where I studied composition with George Thaddeus Jones and Steven Strunk, and piano with Elaine Walter and Walter Pate.  I have also studied with composer Frank Wilhoit (Columbus, OH) and noted choral composer and conductor Alice Parker.

As you see from a look around my website, I write in an accessible, tonal style.  I would describe my music as sometimes sweet, sometimes tangy, with both neoclassical (or is it neo-Baroque?) and Romantic elements.  With respect to choral music, I love the lyrical vocal line and the synergistic confluence of words and music.  With respect to instrumental music, I love working within the classical forms and exploring the vocal and percussive characteristics of various instruments.

The music displayed on this website represents only a portion of my total output and is generally representative of my style.  If you are interested in seeing more of any of the works you see or hear here, performing one (or more) of the pieces, or commissioning a new work, please get in touch with me, either by email or phone.  I’d be happy to hear from you.
